7 Tips to make your job interesting and long-lived

Everyone wants a career that’s fun, exciting and fulfilling, however it’s hard to get hired these days and harder when you get hired but you cannot be thrilled by your job. It sucks and quite boring but before you hand over your resignation letter here are few tips to help you re-invent.

1. Be Positive

Positive attitude will always cheer you up even when things are tough. It’s a key component to keeping your job for long term. Have some patience and perseverance, be in love with whatever you do it will always be fun.

2. Don't Complain

Nobody likes complains regardless of how legitimate the complains are, learn to be grateful because there are plenty of people looking for the same job. If you are in bad terms with colleagues have a formal meeting with HR department. If you don’t like something change it, if you can’t change it then change your attitude.

3. Be On Time

Time management can be very hard than it looks. It needs a bit of commitment, be punctual and be there instead of giving excuses. If you are always late and leave your work early, you won’t earn points with your Boss. However, when you communicate your situation, most bosses will sympathize and be flexible with you if the matter is serious enough.

4. Be Flexible

Flexibility can help you respond to unexpected changes quickly, calmly and effectively. Always be willing to take responsibilities outside your comfort zone. Extend your assistance to other departments, come up with new initiatives because this will help you learn and grow.

5. Be A Team Player

Be an employee who gets along with everyone though it is not easy but very important. Don't involve in work gossips, remember, positive attitude and kindness earns you respect and trust from colleagues and your employer.

6. Try to Make Your Job Work

Find out if there is anything you are doing differently which triggers the boredom. Figure out if it is worth transfer or change of shift however it is within your capability to make a change that will convince you to stay.

7. Suck It Up When All Fails

It may not be your favorite job but remember you need an income anyway. So it makes sense to stay till you get a new job but as you wait, it’s advisable to prepare to job search so that you don’t scramble to find a job once you are terminated, but be sure you secure a job before quitting.

Most employers are biased against the unemployed. They tend to believe that if you were let go by your previous employer then you were not good enough. It is therefore much easier to get a new job while you are in a job.
